Motueka River, Near Tapawera.

I remember the first time I saw this view. I was on my motorcycle touring the South Island. I was riding from Takaka to Westport. I had a long way to go that day and didn’t stop, but I never forgot Tapawera. Many years later I went past this way again. This time I stopped to paint it.

These are larger panels, generally conceived and painted in the studio, not primarily plein air paintings.
